About Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow is a village in the town of Mount Pleasant in Westchester County, located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River.  At the 2000 census the population was 9,212.  Once called Beekmantown and then North Tarrytown, the name was officially changed to Sleepy Hollow in 1996 in honor of the story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving.  This legendary and very beautiful village boasts several world famous landmarks including Philipsburg Manor, Old Dutch Church and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.  The treasure of the area is the 750 acre Rockefeller State Park Preserve with 30 miles of trails, a lake for water sports, superb views, and a blend of wetlands and woodland areas.  Sleepy Hollow is home to a variety of different housing types and styles, condo and coop developments, single family homes and multi-million-dollar mansions and estates.
