Distinguished as the oldest original township in the state, Woodbridge grew slowly until the Garden State Parkway was built in the 1950s. Today, the township is a highly developed center for commercial and industrial activity as well as an attractive residential haven. New construction here is abundant, adding to the variety of housing options. Woodbridge Center Mall is one of the largest indoor climate-controlled shopping centers on the entire East Coast.
