Oxon Hill, MD Overview

Convenient to both Washington, DC and northern Virginia, the community of Oxon Hill is bordered on the north and west by the Potomac River.  Originally, it was called Oxford on the Hill because the terrain was so similar to England’s Oxford University.  Both older and modern single-family homes are available, although rental units are also plentiful.  Those who are interested in a custom build will find that land is still available and tends to be more reasonably priced than that found in many of the areas in the metropolitan region.  The extensive recreational facilities include a regional sports complex with sport fields, tennis courts, riding trails, a community center, and an ice rink. Three major shopping centers serve the area.
